Privacy & cookies
This notice explains what Stellar Broadcasting Network collects when you listen, vote, contact us or use our public radio pages — and which optional features you control.
Last updated 7 October 2026Data controller
Stellar Broadcasting Network (SBN) is the legal entity and data controller that decides why and how personal data is used on sbnradio.dk.
Questions, access requests or objections can be sent to contact@sbnradio.dk.
No advertising trackers
We do not use advertising cookies, build marketing profiles or sell listener data. Optional player preferences, external media and audience statistics stay off until you choose them.
You can reopen the privacy controls from the footer on every public SBN page and change your choice at any time.
What we use and why
| Necessary cookies | CSRF security token; a session cookie when needed for login or requested site functions; and the cookie that remembers your privacy choice. These protect the service and keep core functions working. |
|---|---|
| Player preferences | If you allow Player preferences, SBN remembers player volume for up to one year. The archived-show player stores the same kind of preference in your browser until you clear it or withdraw your choice. |
| External media | If you allow External media, selected pages may load third-party content such as the SBN launch film from YouTube. The provider then receives technical connection data such as your IP address. External media is never loaded before your choice and is removed again if you withdraw it. |
| SBN display fonts | SBN’s public display fonts are hosted directly on sbnradio.dk. Viewing them does not create a connection to Google Fonts and requires no optional privacy choice. |
| Song votes | When you actively vote, we store the song, your IP address and the vote time. This prevents the same connection from voting repeatedly for one song and maintains a fair playlist vote. The vote remains while the song remains in the voting catalogue, unless deletion is required earlier. |
| Radio audience totals | As part of operating the radio, SBN records aggregate simultaneous-listener counts per station. These count measurements are used for audience graphs, peaks and estimated total listener-hours. They contain a station, a time and a count, not an individual listener identity or listening history. Estimates exclude gaps in the measurements and do not establish how long a particular person listened. |
| Episode listening | If you allow Audience statistics, a random browser key and listened seconds are used to count qualified plays and aggregate completion. The key is not your name or email and is deleted with the episode data. |
| Screen dimensions | If you allow Audience statistics and the feature is enabled by SBN, we store only each distinct width/height combination once. No IP, session key or visit counter is stored with that record. |
| Website & live audience | When enabled by SBN and separately allowed by you, a random first-party cookie identifies your browser for visit and live-web-listening statistics. Stored observations contain a secret-key hash, event time, approximate country and (for listening) station. No IP address, browsing URL, name or precise location is saved. Country lookup uses a local database, not an external IP service. Recognised browsers are not verified individual people. Hub players and direct streams are not included in these geographic observations. |
| Contact form | If you contact us, we use the name, email, optional organisation, topic and message you provide to answer and administer the inquiry. A short-lived, secret-key hash derived from the connection IP may be used for up to one hour to limit spam; the raw IP is not saved with the inquiry. |

Why processing is permitted
- Consent: optional Player preferences, External media, Audience statistics and the separate Website & live audience choice.
- Legitimate interests: service security, fair and abuse-resistant voting, answering inquiries and operating reliable radio services.
- Contract or steps requested by you: where an inquiry concerns a possible agreement or service.
Who can receive data
Authorised SBN administrators can access data needed for their work. Technical providers may process limited data to host and deliver the website or operate SBN email under our instructions.
Active SBN hosts may read aggregated audience totals and country statistics, but this read-only page does not reveal individual browser keys or IP addresses.
YouTube or another named third-party media provider receives technical connection data only if you enable External media and request that embedded content. SBN display fonts are delivered directly by SBN and do not contact Google. Following an external social or partner link takes you to that service's own privacy terms.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability or object to processing. You may withdraw optional consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Contact us at contact@sbnradio.dk. You may also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency.
We keep only what is needed
Aggregate radio listener counts and broadcast play history are normally retained for 90 days. Selecting a longer period in the statistics does not recreate records that have already been deleted.
Privacy choices are remembered for 180 days. Player-volume cookies last up to one year. Published show episodes normally remain public for 90 days; related listening records are deleted with their episode. Contact inquiries are reviewed and deleted when they are no longer needed for handling or documenting the inquiry.
Vote records are tied to their song and are removed if that song is deleted. You can contact SBN if a specific earlier deletion request should be assessed.
